Sir Chris Hoy’s career could come full circle in Glasgow next year.

Although it is not yet certain that he will compete at his home Commonwealth Games, in the velodrome that bears his name, if he does it would write the final chapter to a story that began 15 years ago in Kuala Lumpur, when the then 22-year-old took his first, tentative steps on the international stage with his maiden appearance at a major games.

Since then, the story of Hoy’s Commonwealth Games campaign has been mixed: from glorious highs in Manchester, to crushing disappointment in Melbourne, to having to skip Delhi.

Decision time: Sir Chris Hoy is undecided about whether he will compete in the 2014 Commonwealth Games or not. He said he will make a decision before the summer
