Dave Grohl, Chris Cornell, and John Mayer are just a few of the rockers who’ll be in Los Angeles tonight to help make the Class of 2013′s spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame official. Grohl and his Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins are set to induct Rush, while Cornell will present the honor to Heart.
John Mayer, meanwhile, will handle Albert King’s induction before returning to the stage alongside Gary Clark Jr. to perform in place of the late blues legend.
Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell will also be on hand to play with Heart. And while Grohl and Hawkins haven’t been officially booked as performers, Rock Hall President and CEO Joel Peresman recently told “Rolling Stone” that he’s hopeful something will come together last minute. Along with Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam, Soundgarden became one of the most successful bands from Seattle’s emerging grunge scene in the early 1990s.
